Why learn Japanese in Pune right now

Pune has become one of India's largest hubs for Japanese-linked work. Japanese manufacturing and automotive companies operate across Chakan, Talegaon and Ranjangaon; IT and engineering-services firms in Hinjawadi and Kharadi staff Japan-facing delivery teams; and translation, interpretation and BPO roles keep growing. In almost all of them, a JLPT certificate is the qualification the employer actually asks for.

Beyond jobs, students use Japanese for university admissions in Japan, for MEXT and exchange scholarships, and simply to read manga, watch anime and travel without subtitles. Whatever brings you in, the route is the same: build a solid N5 base, then climb steadily.

Course structure

The programme is organised around the JLPT levels, from absolute beginner to upper-intermediate. Each level is a complete course with its own grammar set, kanji load, vocabulary target and mock-test cycle.

How classes actually run

  • Live, cameras on. Not recordings. Sensei sees your face, hears your pronunciation and corrects it in the moment.
  • 8 to 12 students per batch. Small enough that everyone speaks in every single class.
  • Speaking from week one. Reading hiragana in the first weeks, simple self-introduction soon after.
  • Monthly JLPT mock papers scored under exam conditions, with a one-to-one review of what went wrong.
  • Study material included — worksheets, kanji drill sheets, listening packs and a quiz library.

Who teaches you

Every batch is taught by sensei Pradnya Saste herself — there are no assistant teachers and no rotating faculty. With over five years of teaching and a 95% first-attempt JLPT pass rate across N5–N3, she knows exactly where Indian learners get stuck: particles, は vs が, transitive/intransitive pairs, and listening speed. Areas we teach across Pune

Because classes are online, location inside Pune makes no difference. Students currently join from Moshi, Chikhali, Bhosari, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nigdi, Wakad, Hinjawadi, Baner, Aundh, Kothrud, Kharadi, Hadapsar, Viman Nagar, Katraj and Chakan — plus other cities in India and a few students abroad.

Batch options

You can join a group batch of 8–12 students on a fixed weekly schedule, or take one-on-one sessions charged hourly and scheduled around you. Many working professionals start one-on-one and move into a batch once their timings settle. See how fees are structured →

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Japanese language course in Pune take?

JLPT N5 takes about 90+ hours of class time, N4 about 100+ hours and N3 about 110+ hours. At a normal pace of 3–4 sessions a week, most students finish N5 in roughly 4 months and reach N3 in about 14–18 months of continuous study.

Are the Pune classes online or in a classroom?

All classes are live online with cameras on. Students from Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Hinjawadi, Kothrud, Wakad, Baner and anywhere else in Pune attend from home, which removes travel time completely while keeping a real, interactive classroom.

Which textbook do you follow?

The curriculum follows the JLPT syllabus structure used across Japan, supported by sensei's own worksheets, kanji drills, listening packs and monthly mock papers written in the JLPT format.

Do I get a certificate?

The internationally recognised certificate is the JLPT itself, awarded by the Japan Foundation. Our course prepares you to sit and clear that exam; we also issue a course completion record on request.

Can working professionals join?

Yes. A large share of our students are IT professionals, engineers and MBA students in Pune who study in early morning or evening slots. One-on-one sessions can be scheduled entirely around your shift.
